Job Description

The Network Observability Senior Advisor helps design and support tools that monitor network performance and identify problems. This role works with leaders and technical teams to make sure networks run smoothly and issues are found quickly. The Senior Advisor is a trusted expert who leads complex projects, supports other engineers, and helps fix the most difficult problems. This role works across many systems and technologies and is known as a key problem‑solver for network and infrastructure issues.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build tools that monitor network performance and detect problems.
  • Lead work on complex network and infrastructure projects.
  • Fix difficult and high‑priority network and system issues.
  • Create and maintain technical standards to ensure systems are reliable and easy to manage.
  • Guide and mentor other engineers and provide technical support when needed.
  • Work with teams across the company, such as Data Networks, Voice Networks, Contact Center, and Information Protection.
  • Help plan projects, manage risks, and support capacity and budget planning.
  • Share updates, recommendations, and technical information with leaders and partners.
  • Work with vendors when needed to support tools and solutions.
  • Manage multiple projects at the same time and work independently.
  • Travel occasionally (about 5–10 days per year).

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience working with network monitoring tools such as Netcool, SevOne, or Prognosis.
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting systems on Linux and Windows.
  • Hands‑on experience managing Linux systems.
  • Strong knowledge of SNMP, MIBs, and OIDs to collect network data.
  • Experience writing scripts or code using Python, Perl, or PowerShell.
  • Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL, or Oracle.
  • Basic understanding of local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN).
  • Basic knowledge of network tools and services such as DNS, DHCP, SYSLOG, RADIUS, IPSec, NAT, and ACLs.
  • Experience supporting customers or operations teams.
  • Strong problem‑solving, writing, and communication skills.
  • Experience working on Agile teams, including Scrum or Kanban.

Education

  • A college degree or diploma in a technical field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering
    or equivalent work experience.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 123,500 - 205,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
