About the Role
As a Specialist - Technical Accounting & External Reporting, you will act as a technical accounting subject matter expert and support the preparation, review, and audit of statutory and consolidated financial statements. You will research IFRS/local GAAP accounting positions, translate technical conclusions into disclosures, and ensure schedules and audit evidence are accurate and audit-ready. The role partners with controllership, shared services, tax, legal, business finance, and external auditors to deliver compliant financial statements with minimal audit adjustments.
What You Will Do
Analyze complex accounting issues and provide well-documented technical guidance on complex transactions (e.g., revenue, leases, business combinations, impairments) in line with IFRS.
Assist in providing accounting support for M&A, divestitures, joint ventures, and restructuring activities.
Evaluate the accounting treatment of business combinations, goodwill, and intangible assets.
Prepare and review standalone and consolidated financial statements, notes, disclosure schedules, and management review packs under IFRS and local statutory requirements.
Review trial balance mappings, consolidation entries, eliminations, intercompany balances, and disclosure checklists for completeness and accuracy.
Coordinate audit readiness activities, including PBC schedules, reconciliations, roll-forwards, supporting documents, and evidence for key judgments.
Manage audit queries with external auditors and internal stakeholders, track open items, resolve issues, and minimize audit adjustments.
Support the preparation and maintenance of accounting position papers and judgment memos for material and complex matters.
Assist in drafting and updating accounting policy documentation.
Support the preparation and review of guidance related to financial statement line items.
Participate in training sessions for finance teams on accounting policy updates and technical topics.
Act as a key liaison with external auditors, ensuring audit readiness, timely issue resolution, and minimal audit adjustments.
What You Need to Be Successful
Experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, audit, or accounting advisory roles.
Deep understanding of accounting and international standards.
Proven experience in analyzing and applying IFRS to real-world business scenarios.
Hands-on experience in preparation of consolidated financial statements under IFRS.
Strong analytical skills with good attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Demonstrated experience in accounting transformations and regulatory projects.
Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday) or strong aptitude to learn new systems quickly.
Proficiency in MS Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Bonus Points if You Have
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification in accounting or auditing.
Big 4 experience.
Experience in the automotive or automotive supplier industry.
Strong project management skills.
Experience working in a multinational organization utilizing a Financial Shared Services model.
External audit, ESG reporting experience.
