About the role

GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR PART TIME (or possibly full time) VETERINARY POSITION in beautiful northern Virginia at Compassion Animal Hospital. Close enough to the city to enjoy yourself but with a country, relaxed, small town feel. You are sure to enjoy your job as well as your time off by going to vineyards, breweries, the beach, the mountains, and just enjoying this unique and growing area.

We are looking to add an energetic, caring doctor to add to our 5 doctor small animal practice! Our patients are mostly dogs and cats, but we do a small number of exotics also. Our practices are well-equipped, well staffed, and well managed, and we have been a part of the community for 30 years. We have many wonderful clients and patients with whom it is a pleasure to work. We value high quality medicine, teamwork, community, good communication, and collaboration.
Do you love client education and a structure that encourages good preventative care? We do too! Preventative care and educating our clients are a central focus for us. We have Health Plans and Dental Plans to help our clients give their pets the care they need. Special emphasis months assist us in educating, encouraging, and incentivizing them. We are looking for a doctor who desires to build great relationships with our clients and patients.
Do you want to learn more surgeries or become more comfortable in the OR? We perform many surgical procedures beyond spays and neuters (fracture repairs, ocular procedures, FHOs, suture CCL repairs in small patients, Perineal Hernia Repairs, and more); and if you love surgery and learning new things, we would love to teach you. We have experienced veterinarians who love to mentor, and we pride ourselves on growing veterinary practitioners that provide excellent care in a supportive and encouraging environment.

We have electronic records that are cloud based. So, you can access them from anywhere and even check your schedule from your phone. We always strive to be ahead of the curve by using technology to our advantage to serve our clients and make our jobs a little easier.

Work/Life Balance is important to us, and we are looking for someone who shares our philosophy of good medicine, good client communication, and good self care. We know that in our profession, veterinarians need support, balance, and permission to take care of themselves. Our profession is a wonderful career. We work hard to keep you fresh and having fun at work and on your days off!

Vacation time can be spent in the surrounding mountains; historical northern VA or Washington, DC; or beaches - all available as a day trip. Hiking, canoeing, rafting, and other outdoor sports are readily available within a day. Shopping, site-seeing, and fine dining are easily found as well. You can enjoy being near the city while not suffering through the traffic of living in one.

We also believe in serving our community by mentoring LVT and DVM students and working with a local shelter and rescues to support our community.

We invite you to apply and have a conversation with us. We would love to meet you and have you become part of the Compassion Animal Hospital family.

Benefits we offer (full time position):
Retirement Plans
Paid Vacation
Health Care
Continuing Ed Allowance (financial and days)
Competitive Salary (based on experience)
