Job Summary

Assist the Auxiliary Equipment Operator in manipulating and adjusting the nuclear plant auxiliary equipment other than from in the control room in a safe and reliable manner.

Please note: Cook Nuclear Plant is recruiting multiple Utility Operators to be part of our next UO Class which will start early November 2026.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

• Operate, align, verify alignment of auxiliary systems according to approved procedures and instructions.
• Inspect assigned areas, inspect running equipment for proper operation and valve alignment, and standby equipment for readiness.
• Clear, tag, and return equipment to service as directed and in accordance to Clearance Permit System.
• Take readings, record data and make appropriate entries in station logs, complete procedural paperwork.
• Report and maintain log of unusual events and changes in operating conditions.
• Support and participate in the Emergency Plan Organization, HAZMAT response organization, and Corrective Action Program activities as assigned, and in accordance with procedures and policies applicable for the assigned role.
• Responsible for continuously upgrading knowledge and skill.

What We're Looking For:

Education:

• High School graduate or GED.

Work Experience:

• Entry Level.

Other Requirements:

• Must be able to pass the preemployment POSS Test.Specific knowledge of nuclear standards and nuclear policies, practices and procedures relating to plant operations.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Effective writing and verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands:

• May perform walk downs in plant environment which may include exposure to heat, cold, noise, and radiation exposure

Compensation Grade:

U085-715

Compensation Range:

$33.89 - $36.18

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: M – Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.   Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
