Job Description
Position Summary:
The hands-on technical backbone of Nightingale College’s Banner SaaS environment. You’ll resolve escalated issues, manage configurations across modules, build and maintain integrations through Ethos and Data Connect, and keep the platform running smoothly day to day. Working closely with the Administrator III, you’ll grow into deeper platform ownership while mentoring the Administrator I.
Role and Responsibilities:
Configuration & Escalation Resolution
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex Banner issues, owning configuration management across Student, Finance, HR, and Financial Aid modules.
- Resolve complex Banner issues escalated from Administrator I and functional teams.
- Manage module configuration changes with proper testing, documentation, and rollback planning.
- Lead testing and validation efforts during Ellucian SaaS release cycles and configuration changes.
- Monitor and optimize job scheduling, automation workflows, and batch processes.
Integration & Data Connect Execution
Build, troubleshoot, and maintain integrations between Banner and campus systems using Ethos APIs and Data Connect, under the architectural direction of the Administrator III.
- Implement and maintain Ethos-based integrations connecting Banner to LMS, CRM, Financial Aid systems, and third-party vendors.
- Build and support automated data pipelines and business process workflows through Data Connect.
- Troubleshoot integration failures, monitor error rates, and resolve data sync issues.
- Collaborate with the data team to ensure accurate data feeds to downstream systems (e.g., Snowflake environments).
Experience & Platform Support
Support the day-to-day operations of Ellucian Experience and platform extensibility under the guidance of the Administrator III.
- Assist with Experience dashboard configuration, card management, and user role assignments.
- Support low-code extensibility efforts and test institution-specific customizations.
- Help assess and implement new platform features delivered through continuous SaaS updates.
Security, Compliance & Documentation
Manage Banner security architecture and maintain documentation aligned with compliance standards.
- Oversee Banner security roles, classes, and access governance controls.
- Maintain architectural and process documentation aligned with FERPA, GLBA, and institutional compliance standards.
- Support disaster recovery testing and audit remediation efforts.
Collaboration & Mentorship
Partner with institutional departments and vendors to optimize system functionality. Provide mentorship to Administrator I, building skill development across Ethos, Data Connect, and Experience.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience.
- 4–6 years of Ellucian Banner experience, with exposure to the SaaS platform ecosystem.
- Working knowledge of Ellucian Ethos, including API-based integrations and the Ethos Data Model.
- Experience with Ethos Data Connect for building and maintaining data pipelines and automated workflows.
- Familiarity with Ellucian Experience configuration and administration.
- Strong SQL proficiency including complex joins, query optimization, and data validation.
- Familiarity with database structures within Banner for troubleshooting and operational support.
- Experience managing SaaS release testing cycles and configuration change management.
- Understanding of higher education regulatory compliance (FERPA, GLBA preferred).
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python desirable.
