Description

We are Northrop Grumman Australia. Our 800 strong team is leveraging unparalleled global resources to deliver sovereign Defence capability aligned to the Government’s priorities across Aeronautics, Mission Critical Systems, Space and Guided Weapons. As we build our business and our capabilities, we are also developing a reputation as a great place to work. Help us define what is possible for our nation and for your career.

When programs hit complex export and compliance questions, this is the role they rely on to work it through.

You’ll be the person programs come to when the answer isn’t obvious, working through complex export scenarios and finding a compliant path without slowing things down.

You’ll sit close to the work, advising on real defence programs, handling everything from routine requests to completely new situations where there’s no playbook.

We’re open on location (Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide or Sydney), but this can be fully remote for the right person, offering a genuine cost of living advantage without stepping away from high‑end defence work.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll work across a mix of operational and complex advisory work, including:

  • Working through complex ITAR, EAR and DTCA scenarios where the answer isn’t clear
  • Advising programs early to shape compliant pathways, not fix issues later
  • Managing permits, licences and requests through to outcome
  • Handling a steady flow of program-driven work while staying across new demands
  • Pushing back when needed, with clear rationale that stands up to scrutiny
  • Keeping records clean, accurate and audit-ready
  • Mentoring others and lifting overall understanding of trade compliance

About You

You’re comfortable sitting in the grey, breaking problems apart and working through complex regulations to land on a clear, defensible answer.

You don’t need handholding, and you don’t slow things down unnecessarily.

You’ll likely bring:

  • Strong experience across ITAR, EAR, DTCA and export controls in a defence environment
  • Confidence handling pushback from programs and senior stakeholders, with clear, well‑reasoned advice
  • The ability to explain complex decisions simply, while keeping the detail needed for audit and compliance
  • A mindset of ownership and persistence — you’ll work it through until there’s a way forward
  • You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance.

What we Offer

We have built our benefits to help you define your possible.

  • Professional Development – further education, leadership development, professional industry memberships and unlimited access to a range of online training
  • Purchased annual leave – 2 weeks
  • Salary packaging including novated car leases
  • Generous paid parental leave – 18 Weeks
  • Volunteer and enhanced Reservist Leave
  • Health & Wellbeing program
  • Employee Assistance Program
