Key responsibilities
Join ABB and help shape the next generation of safety-critical hardware for industrial automation. As an R&D Project Manager / Release Owner, you will lead international development projects from concept through certification and market introduction. Working with global R&D teams, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, SIL-certified products in accordance with Functional Safety standards such as IEC 61508.
Your background may be in automation, automotive, aerospace, rail, medical technology, or another regulated industry. What matters most is your experience in leading complex technical development projects.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Lead international, cross-functional hardware development projects.
Drive products through the complete lifecycle, from development and verification to certification and release.
Manage project plans, schedules, budgets, risks, and key milestones.
Coordinate engineering, product management, quality, manufacturing, and certification activities.
Support Functional Safety processes including hazard analysis, FMEA reviews, verification planning, and certification.
Communicate project status, risks, and key decisions to stakeholders worldwide.
Qualifications for the role
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
At least 3 years of professional experience in this or a comparable environment
Experience leading and coordinating complex projects
Strong project management and stakeholder management skills
Experience in safety-critical, regulated, or certification-driven environments
Business-fluent German and fluent English, with excellent communication skills in both languages
