This PhD student position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research within the INDUSTRIAL CHAIR ProActive Design 4 SUSTAINABILITY, focusing on developing innovative solutions for sustainable product design and lifecycle management at PTC Inc.

Job Responsibilities:**

* Conduct in-depth literature reviews on topics related to sustainable product design, circular economy principles, lifecycle assessment, and digital design tools.
* Develop and implement research methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative approaches, to investigate key challenges and opportunities in proactive sustainable design.
* Design and execute experiments or case studies to validate research hypotheses and explore practical applications of sustainable design principles within PTC's product development processes.
* Analyze research data, interpret findings, and formulate actionable recommendations for improving product sustainability and reducing environmental impact.
* Collaborate with PTC engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand industry needs and integrate research insights into future product roadmaps.
* Prepare and present research findings at internal meetings, conferences, and workshops.
* Publish research outcomes in reputable academic journals and contribute to the intellectual property of PTC Inc.
* Contribute to the development of new tools, methodologies, or frameworks for proactive sustainable design.
* Actively participate in the academic community, including attending seminars, workshops, and fostering collaborations with other research institutions.

Job Qualifications:**

* Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Environmental), Computer Science, Sustainable Design, or a related field.
* Strong academic record with a proven ability to conduct independent research.
* Demonstrated interest and foundational knowledge in sustainable design principles, circular economy, and environmental impact assessment.
* Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., CAD/CAM, PLM systems, LCA software, data analysis tools) is a significant advantage.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex research findings clearly and concisely.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
* Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn new technologies and research methodologies.
* Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
