About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Offsite Commissioning Manager to join our MEP Department team in our Washington, DC office. This is a full-time, in-person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review submittals, owner standards, specifications, and contract documents to ensure proper coordination with the onsite commissioning team.
  • Review design documents, specifications, and submittals to verify commissioning requirements and test criteria.
  • Review Factory Witness Testing (FWT) / Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) scripts and provide comments as necessary.
  • Develop and manage the offsite commissioning plan, schedule, and resource allocation across multiple vendors and pre-fabrication sites.
  • Develop and maintain commissioning checklists, test scripts, and verification documents.
  • Develop and maintain touchpoints with vendors, integrators, owners, and onsite project teams to ensure equipment readiness and commissioning progress goals are met.
  • Attend and host Factory Witness Testing (FWT) / Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), including creating formal reports and action items upon completion.
  • Oversee component verification documentation and verify fabrication of equipment to ensure QA/QC oversight and compliance with specifications and owner standards.
  • Validate equipment performance, integration points, controls programming, and quality standards prior to shipment.
  • Manage vendor equipment reports for shipment approval prior to each equipment delivery and manage shipment deviation requests for equipment not completed prior to shipment.
  • Identify issues or non-conformance early and drive corrective action with vendors and trade partners.
  • Review L2 inspections including First of a Kind (FOAK) mock-ups, set-in-place inspections, pre-energization inspections, and final clean inspections.
  • Ensure offsite commissioning activities align with project milestones and offsite production schedules.
  • Travel as necessary to vendor or integrator facilities for scope verification, offsite testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor progress and escalate risks impacting downstream construction or commissioning activities.
  • Provide regular progress updates and risk summaries to the project team and leadership.
  • Implement mitigation strategies to protect project timelines and onsite commissioning phases.
  • Work closely with project managers, design engineers, field commissioning teams, and quality control personnel.
  • Ensure a seamless transition from offsite commissioning to onsite installation and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate with Site QA/QC/MEP Team Leads and trade partners for inspection paperwork and manage and train the team on software tools used to execute the quality program.

Qualifications

Required:

  • S. in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related Construction/Engineering degree with 7+ years of experience in commissioning, startup, or equipment testing (electrical, controls, integrated systems); OR
  • A High School Diploma with 10+ years of experience in commissioning, startup, or equipment testing (electrical, controls, integrated systems).
  • Willingness to relocate to Atlanta, GA.
  • Ability to travel to manufacturing facilities as required.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of mission critical data center equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and technical equipment submittals, including identifying errors or redundancies for resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs, and evaluate new ideas with internal and external partners.
  • Experience in data centers, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor, or mission-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with commissioning management software such as CXAlloy and BIM360.
  • Outstanding communication and time management skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to solve complex problems requiring conceptual and innovative thinking.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment, including adapting to change, communicating effectively, and presenting ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to handle confrontation in a professional and constructive manner.
  • Willingness to accept constructive criticism to support personal and professional growth.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with modular construction and/or equipment integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and support team members by enabling others to act and encouraging high performance.
  • Experience fostering collaborative environments that emphasize individual contributions and team development.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback that supports team growth while maintaining professionalism and respect.
