About the role
The Senior Managing Director of AI Strategy & Enterprise Applications is responsible for building and leading the organization’s AI Strategy and Enterprise AI applications roadmap. This leader will partner closely with the business leaders to identify the AI capabilities needed to propel business growth. Working across the organization this leader will develop and executive a comprehensive Agentic AI strategy that is built on a foundation of business objectives.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Own and drive TIAA’s enterprise-wide AI strategy, vision and multi-year roadmap, ensuring it is tightly aligned to corporate strategy and anchored in measurable business outcomes
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner to senior business leaders across the enterprise, engaging directly with P&L owners to identify where AI creates the greatest leverage and co-developing AI roadmaps that translate business priorities into actionable, outcome-driven plans.
- Evangelizes use of AI services and other emerging technology within the company across business boundaries to augment the organization's products and services.
- The role is expected to lead on TIAA’s thinking on its AI products and services against business needs. She/ he will expand product roadmaps for current tooling and envision new products and services for the enterprise based on enterprise roadmaps.
- Liaises with the broader enterprise and affiliates to ensure that innovation outcomes are efficiently leveraged throughout different parts of the business.
- Expands traditional boundaries of technological innovation while balancing risk and innovation for the benefit of clients.
- Leads thought leadership, research and intellectual property initiatives in the technology and AI space across the organization’s business lines.
- Establishes agile innovation processes which allow the company to easily adjust current technologies to changes in the market and changing needs of clients.

This is not a traditional technology role. It is an enterprise leadership mandate. The person who steps into this seat will shape how TIAA competes in the AI era, translating bold business ambitions into disciplined, outcome-driven AI roadmaps. They will serve as a trusted strategic partner to the most senior P&L owners in the company, act as the executive sponsor of AI product delivery, and build the organizational muscle to scale Agentic AI responsibly and rapidly.
With more than two decades of experience spanning AI technology and financial services, this leader will bring the credibility to challenge, inspire, and align stakeholders at every level from engineers to the C-suite.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Own and drive TIAA’s enterprise-wide AI vision and multi-year roadmap, ensuring it is tightly aligned to corporate strategy and anchored in measurable business outcomes
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner to senior business leaders across the enterprise, engaging directly with P&L owners to identify where AI creates the greatest leverage and co-developing AI roadmaps that translate business priorities into actionable, outcome-driven plans.
- Ensure consistent executive visibility across the AI portfolio by communicating progress, value delivered, and emerging opportunities in clear business terms
- Drive product strategy and execution across a portfolio of AI products and workflows spanning intelligent automation, machine learning, generative AI, and Agentic AI
- Establish operating rhythms, governance mechanisms, and delivery standards that enable teams to move with speed and confidence
- Cultivate a culture of responsible experimentation and structured mechanisms to identify, pilot, and scale emerging AI capabilities
- Partner with architecture, infrastructure, data, and risk teams to build foundational capabilities that enable Agentic AI to be deployed reliably and at scale
- Build a disciplined portfolio management capability that balances quick wins with longer-horizon strategic initiatives

Anticipated Posting End Date:
2026-06-19Base Pay Range: $304,000/yr - $352,000/yrActual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
