Transco Rail Services, along with Union Tank Car Company (UTLX) and Procor, delivers full‑service railcar repair and maintenance through a broad North American network of fixed shops and mobile field service teams. Serving freight and tank car fleets across multiple industries, we are committed to safety, compliance, quality, and reliable service.

We have an exciting opportunity for a reliable Railcar Repair Technician at our Joffre, AB location. This opportunity is perfect for experienced individuals looking for a stable position in an organization that offers advancement.

Essential Functions:

  • Cut, fit, and repair railcars, their components, and other items as necessary to facilitate railcar repair.
  • Perform all necessary AAR repairs to railcars including cutting, straightening, and car repair.
  • Perform and document quality control checks as required by Company quality standards.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance checks on used equipment. 
  • Comply with company and regulatory safety and environmental standards. 
  • Appropriately wear and utilize all of the following types of safety equipment in accordance with EHS instruction and requirements: Respirators (full and half face), hearing protection, eye protection, steel toed boots, and fall protection

Skill/Specifications:

  • Welding experience an asset.
  • Competent and safe use of shop tools and equipment, including cranes, electric/pneumatic/hydraulic tools, and hand tools.
  • Prior railcar repair experience.
  • Blue Print Reading
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong initiative and effective communication skills.
  • Adherence to Transco’s health and safety standards, including the Responsible Care policy, and proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Hours of Work:

The normal work schedule for this will be Monday to Friday, from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., however this schedule may change as business requirements dictate.
