About the role
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Operate scale to effectively weigh all inbound and outbound live receiving trucks. Ensures a smooth flow of trucks in and out of the yard. Must always use and maintain personal protective equipment, and work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
· Weigh loaded trailers in and print a weigh ticket
· Distribute live haul trailers underneath a holding shed using a yard truck or tractor
· Bring loaded trailers around to be unloaded by a forklift
· Bring empty trailers back to scales to be weighed out to establish a tare weight
· Enter tickets in a database
· Trailers are to be “bucked” and “un-bucked” in a timely manner
· Stray birds are to be collected and delivered to the dumper
· Holding shed fans and fogging system are to be monitored and turned on or off based on our animal welfare guidelines and the comfort level of the birds being held
· Scale office is to be kept clean and orderly as well as helping keep outside (scales, holding shed, etc.) clean and neat
· Move trailers to and from the bay for the box room
· Maintain Public Weigh Master License (Company provided)
· Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, coworkers
· Must be able to follow directions and work in other departments as needed
· Must be able to perform additional duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Basic computer skills
· Ability to communicate and comprehend English (read, write, speak)
· Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate
· Ability to work occasional weekends and extended shift hours
· Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Basic math functions and skills
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
· Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
· Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to work outside with exposure to wet, cold, hot, humid and/or dusty environment year round
· Stand up to 8 hours
· Lift up to 10 lbs
· Exposure to wet and dusty environment
· Frequently walking, reaching, bending, stooping and kneeling
· Work around live animals and live animal odors
