Job Description
Amazon Aurora DSQL is a serverless, distributed SQL database with virtually unlimited scale, highest availability, and zero infrastructure management. Aurora DSQL provides active-active high availability, delivering strong data consistency designed for 99.99% single-Region and 99.999% multi-Region availability. Aurora DSQL automatically manages and scales system resources, so you don't have to worry about maintenance downtime, provisioning, patching, or upgrading infrastructure.
The Aurora DSQL JumpStart team is revolutionizing how developers build applications with databases, especially in the agentic era. We're making DSQL easy for AI-assisted development by creating frictionless developer experiences, building integrations with modern development tools, and establishing DSQL as a leading database integrated with frameworks and AI coding assistants.
As part of the JumpStart team, you'll work at the intersection of database technology and developer experience. You'll build tools, documentation, integrations, and user interfaces that enable millions of developers—both human and AI agents—to successfully build applications on DSQL. This includes creating MCP servers for AI coding tools like Kiro and Claude Code, building console experiences that delight developers, developing authentication helpers and ORM adapters, and crafting example-rich documentation that AI models can consume.
An ideal candidate has experience building developer tools, SDKs, or developer-facing products, understands both backend systems and front-end user experiences, and thrives on rapid iteration. You'll work with AI coding assistants daily, understand their strengths and limitations, and design solutions that work seamlessly for both human developers and AI agents. You're comfortable working across the full stack—from database drivers and authentication systems to console UIs and documentation—and can move quickly to validate ideas and ship improvements.
Key job responsibilities
Our engineers collaborate across diverse teams, projects, and environments to have a firsthand impact on our global customer base. You'll bring a passion for developer experience, AI-assisted development, and rapid experimentation. You'll also:
- Design and build developer tools, SDKs, console features, and integrations that reduce friction for developers building on DSQL
- Create AI-ready documentation, code samples, and integrations for AI coding assistants (Kiro, Claude Code, etc.)
- Build authentication helpers, ORM adapters, and database drivers that make DSQL easy to use with popular frameworks
- Develop console experiences including query editors, cluster management UIs, and onboarding flows
- Partner with ISVs and framework providers to integrate DSQL into their platforms
- Measure and improve developer experience through benchmarking, user testing, and rapid iteration
- Work with AI models to understand how they select products and influence their recommendations
A day in the life
You'll work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment focused on rapid experimentation and customer impact. You might spend your morning building a new Kiro Power that automates DSQL cluster setup, afternoon creating an authentication helper for a popular Python ORM, and evening testing how well Claude Code can build applications against DSQL. You'll:
- Ship improvements weekly, validating with real developers and AI coding assistants
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and the core DSQL engineering team
- Use AI coding tools yourself to understand the developer experience firsthand
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Work cross-functionally to help drive business decisions with your technical input
About the team
The JumpStart team is dedicated to making DSQL an easy to use database for agentic developers. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we're building an environment that celebrates rapid iteration, customer obsession, and knowledge-sharing. Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects that help you develop expertise in developer experience, AI-assisted development, and full-stack engineering.
