Job Title

Junior VAT Advisor - EMEA

Job Description Summary

The Junior VAT Advisor will support the development of VAT advisory capabilities across the EMEA region within an in-house multinational environment. The role is designed for a junior VAT professional who has a good understanding of VAT principles and is keen to build deeper technical expertise beyond traditional compliance activities.
This role offers a unique opportunity to develop a career in indirect tax within a leading global real estate services organization. Unlike many junior VAT roles that focus primarily on compliance, this position provides broad exposure to VAT advisory, business partnering, VAT technology, process improvement, and cross-border transactions across the EMEA region.
You will work closely with experienced VAT professionals and external advisors, gaining practical experience in complex international VAT matters while developing technical and commercial skills.
We are committed to supporting professional growth and will actively encourage and support relevant professional qualifications and study programs. This includes financial support for approved VAT, tax, accounting, or finance qualifications, together with study leave and ongoing learning opportunities to help you achieve your professional goals

VAT Systems and Process Improvement:

  • Contribute to VAT-related systems, data and process improvement initiatives, including ERP implementation or enhancement projects.
  • Assist with the maintenance and testing of VAT codes, tax logic, controls, and reporting processes in internal systems.

VAT Compliance Coordination:

  • Liaise with external advisors and internal teams where VAT compliance inputs, supporting data, or follow-up actions are required.
  • Support the review of VAT compliance outputs where needed, while remaining focused on advisory development and technical understanding.

Audit and Dispute Resolution:

  • Provide data, documentation, and technical support for VAT audits, tax authority inquiries, and dispute resolution matters.

Learning and Development:

  • Build technical VAT knowledge through practical advisory work, structured coaching and mentoring, interaction with external advisors, and participation in internal and external training programs.
  • Work towards relevant professional qualifications in VAT, tax, accounting, or finance, supported by the business through funding assistance and development opportunities.
  • Develop the technical, commercial, and stakeholder management skills required for a successful long-term career in international VAT advisory.

Multinational VAT Exposure:

  • Develop an understanding of how VAT operates across different countries, service lines, business functions, and transaction types within a multinational organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in VAT, indirect tax or tax advisory, preferably gained in a Big 4, advisory practice, or multinational environment.
  • Basic technical understanding of VAT principles, including place of supply rules, tax points, taxable persons and taxable activities, supply chain analysis, cross-border transactions, and the EU VAT Directive or local VAT legislation.
  • Interest in developing a long-term career in VAT advisory within an in-house multinational environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to apply technical concepts to practical business situations.
  • Good communication skills, curiosity, willingness to learn, and confidence to work with stakeholders across finance, tax, operations, and external advisors.
