The Team:
In Hiscox Europe, you will work across several geographies, which includes Germany, France, Benelux, Iberia and Ireland. We are organized in an Agile manner through Value Streams with the aim of autonomous teams towards specific key demands, be it country specific or cross country.
As part of the Europe Technology Team, based in Lisbon, and reporting to Cloud & Integration Lead, you will be the DevOps Engineering Manager responsible for the EU DevOps Value Stream.
The Role:
As a DevOps Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the successful management of the tools, KPIs, and DevOps Value Stream. You will ensure that they meet business needs with optimal performance and quality, and are used in accordance with the agreed governance.
Key Responsibilities
Team and Service Management:
- Lead a team of Cloud and DevOps engineers
- Monitor and manage related services provided to Hiscox by 3rd parties, ensuring that we have the right quality controls in place and best practices are being followed
- Representative for the EU Cloud and DevOps Team within the wider organisation
Technical leadership:
- Define, distribute and maintain guidelines, standards and templates to be consumed across the wider IT team
- Establish and manage suitable processes and tooling as required within the team
- Provide guidance and coaching in cloud and DevOps technologies and approaches as needed
- Drive the DevOps principles and culture across the wider IT team
- Coach and influence engineers to DevOps maturity
- Oversee and direct the vendor DevOps and Infrastructure resources
- Monitor market trends and best practices relating to DevOps, CI/CD and use of cloud services
- Act as an SME within the wider IT team, advising on strategy and defining the right approach for a range of projects
Change Delivery and Operational Support:
- Create and maintain cloud infrastructure across all Production and Testing environments
- Create and maintain suitable monitoring at all levels (infrastructure, app, data)
- Provide a 3rd-line Production support relating to the cloud and CI/CD components
- Drive the commoditisation of cloud services where possible
- Analyse Project Requirements, working with Architects and Application teams to define the optimal cloud and CI/CD designs
- Produce and validate low level designs that will be delivered using cloud services
- Drive alignment and consistency between solutions where appropriate
- Validate estimations on Project activities required from the cloud & DevOps team
- Act as the key point of contact for Project and BAU Support stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience
- At least five years’ experience of working as a DevOps and cloud engineer, preferably on an Azure environment
- Prior experience working in a relevant IT role (for instance application/infrastructure support & operations or a delivery role using relevant technologies)
- Experience of implementing and managing infrastructure as code using Terraform
- Experience of CI/CD & pipeline management
- Experience working with distributed teams and building relationships with stakeholders
- Experience of managing 3rd party services
- Experience working in a Production Support role
- Ability to read and comprehend business requirements and high level design deliverables to be able to advise on suitable solution design
- Familiarity with both Waterfall and Agile Software Development Methodologies
