The Training & Simulation Business Unit develops and manufactures training systems, primarily for military users. Our offering is extensive and includes the supply of state-of-the-art laser simulators for live-fire training, force-on-target applications, virtual simulation capabilities and training services. Training & Simulation operates globally with over 650 employees across twelve different countries.

In this role, you will use your knowledge, expertise and technical know-how to contribute to the training of the French Armed Forces and their partners, raising their skills to a higher level and helping to create a safe environment in Europe.
Saab Training & Simulation has been commissioned to provide the French Armed Forces with laser-based training, simulation and support services at two key training sites in France (Mailly-le-Camp & Sissonne) as well as at several sites across mainland France using our simulation equipment.
Your role
Initially, you will be part of a 2-person team, based at our training centre in Mailly-le-Camp, and will receive comprehensive training to become a subject matter expert on all matters relating to Saab’s laser simulation system and its wide range of applications and subsystems. This system is essential for providing simulation and training support to the French armed forces.
You will report directly to the Saab Support Manager at Mailly-le-Camp who will also act as your link to the Saab Training & Simulation headquarters in Huskvarna, Sweden.
As a Service Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring that the interests of Saab, and those of the French Army, are met to the highest possible standard. You will be responsible for the maintenance of all Saab training and simulation equipment for the French Army at the Mailly-le-Camp and Sissone sites, as well as equipment deployed nationally, ensuring that it is maintained and configured to provide the best possible training experience for the French military customer. You must be open, loyal and honest, trust your colleagues and respect agreements, decisions and processes.
Your main responsibilities will be as follows:
Technical support of Saab’s anti-tank weapon simulation systems as fielded at Mailly-le-Camp and Sissonne as well as across multiple sites in France.
Repair of mechanical, Electronic and optical equipment.
Configuration of hardware and software.
Test of products, pre- and post-repair, according to applicable control instructions.
Scheduled test and maintenance of products according to Annual Systems check instruction.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on fielded equipment.
Instruct and educate others on equipment operation.
Create and maintain the safety stock level for assigned products.
Conduct fault reporting using internal Saab systems and processes.
Ensure correct HW/SW configuration in support of the customer.
Act as principal advisor to the customer on all equipment-related issues relating to exercise planning.
Respond quickly and efficiently to customer requests, fulfilling them where possible or finding alternative solutions where necessary.
Ensure operational excellence of the service and support delivery to the French Army.
Skills and experience
A good understanding of Integrated Logistical Support (ILS) and its implementation to achieve operational excellence.
Experience of working in a military training environment.
Good understanding of French military doctrine, organisational structure and tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP).
Strong motivation and a focus on efficiency.
Good technical skills. Experience in the repair of mechanical, electronic and optical equipment is an advantage.
Strong IT skills, particularly the ability to load and configure software and troubleshoot IT systems in order to keep systems functioning.
Full driving licence.
Fluency in English.
Willingness to travel without restriction. Domestic and international travel is part of the role.
For this role, the successful candidate must be able to access French military facilities and must therefore undergo a security clearance process in accordance with current security regulations. For roles requiring security clearance, additional citizenship requirements may apply.
