The Opportunity 

Chief Transformation and Operations Officer sits at the centre of QBE’s local strategic execution, leading the transformation agenda while ensuring strong governance, operational discipline and alignment with global priorities.

This newly scoped role combines accountability for delivery of large-scale transformation with oversight of strategy, governance, legal, risk alignment and CEO office activities across the Australian Pacific (AUSPAC) region.

Your new role 

As Chief Transformation and Operations Officer, you will report to the AUSPAC CEO and lead AUSPAC’s transformation agenda and ensure the effective operation of division-wide governance and the Office of the CEO.

The role is accountable for driving and governing the AUSPAC transformation roadmap, including strategy, sequencing and delivery oversight, while also leading key governance activities and acting as the primary liaison for Group-provided services.

This is a newly created role and a great opportunity to join QBE’s AUSPAC Executive Management Board in this pivotal strategic role.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Drive the strategy, sequencing and alignment of AUSPAC’s transformation agenda.

  • Oversee major transformation initiatives, including governance, risk and dependencies.

  • Embed enterprise transformation programs within the Division, working in partnership with Global and AUSPAC executives.

  • Lead governance activities across Board and Executive forums, including oversight of Legal and third-party risk management.

  • Oversee key activities within the Office of the CEO.

  • Drive cross-functional alignment across AUSPAC and Group teams to deliver strategic priorities.

This role is designated as an Accountable Person under the Financial Accountability Regime (FAR) and a Responsible Person under APRA Fit & Proper requirements.

About you 

This is an opportunity for an established senior leader from financial services. You will possess demonstrable experience in overseeing transformation and governance within a complex, regulated environment; balancing delivery with strong risk, control and operational discipline.

Ideal Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, enterprise transformation portfolios, spanning multiple programs and business units

  • Ability to operate effectively at C-suite level, influencing across Group, Board and regulatory stakeholders

  • Proven capability in complex change leadership within highly matrixed, global environments

  • Strong experience in governance, risk and regulatory frameworks (APRA / FAR exposure well regarded)

  • Track record of sequencing and prioritising competing transformation initiatives, balancing short- and long-term horizons

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and value realisation focus

  • Deep capability in aligning enterprise strategy to regional or divisional execution, translating vision into clear, executable roadmaps

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional, high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement and delivery

  • Insurance industry experience will be highly regarded
