Job Description

Cabrillo Pet Hospital is currently looking to hire a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team! Our ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves animals and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience rooming patients, surgical assisting experience and knowledge of equipment used, drawing blood and running lab work, knowledge of x-rays and proper positioning, experience with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and motivating team member.

  • Salary: $25 - $34 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, education, and licensure.

  • Schedule: Full- time or Part-Time available.

  • Location: 4134 Voltaire St, San Diego, CA 92107

Cabrillo Pet Hospital is a team-focused, fun place to work and care for all the furry friends.  We are a large, multi-service practice offering veterinary services, boarding & day camp, and a pet store in beautiful San Diego, California.  We are proudly AAHA accredited and have been serving the Point Loma and Ocean Beach community since 1975. 

Who You Are:

  • Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California, license must be active and in good standing.

  • 3+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting

  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment

  • Passion for working with animals and their owners

  • Experience with proper animal handling and restraint, Fear Free preferred

  • Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories

  • Perform basic exam procedures

  • Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)

  • Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning

  • Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting, and extractions

  • Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)

  • Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); in-house laboratory equipment

  • Ability to utilize ultrasound to obtain diagnostic images and urine samples preferred

  • Excellent client communication/education

  • Ability to perform Technician appointments independently, including accurate medical record documentation
