Markets Operations represents the evolution and transformation of Operations in the Finance industry, creating a unique approach to product and solution delivery. As a dynamic, global, and diverse organization with a presence in over 60 countries, we encompass all post-execution operations teams, including product-aligned Middle Office groups, Settlements, Margin, Asset Servicing, Listed Derivative, Clearing & Commodities Operations. We support a wide range of Capital Markets products and services, including:
- Fixed Income: (FX, Rates, Credit, Muni, Cash, and Derivatives), where Citi consistently ranks among the top 3 market players.
- Equity: (Cash, Derivatives, Prime Brokerage, Futures, Listed Derivatives, Clearing, and Foreign Exchange Prime Brokerage), where Citi has a significant growth program to expand capabilities and services.
- Syndicates: Supporting both Fixed Income and Equity new issues and IPOs.
Our Operations groups are central to all firm activities, significantly impacting the trade lifecycle. We collaborate extensively with internal stakeholders (Front Office Sales and Trading Desks, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Risk, and HR) and interact significantly with external clients, playing a key role in their overall experience. A dedicated client relationship group oversees service performance and strategic partnerships with top-tier clients, ensuring a first-class experience when doing business with Citi.

Team/Position Overview:
Within Markets Operations, Margin & Collateral Operations teams mitigate counterparty exposure and ensure regulatory compliance while delivering best-in-class capabilities in margin and collateral management, inventory management, collateral efficiency in addition to the execution of portfolio reconciliations and client valuations reporting. The team supports global Markets businesses across products, regions, and entities, engaging with a broad range of stakeholders.
Within Markets Operations, the Margin & Collateral Operations teams are establishing a presence in India, Pune to support both global coverage and business growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing teams and margin and collateral processes supporting global Markets businesses across products, regions, and entities. They will work as part of with the Margin and Collateral Operations leadership team and key businesses, technology, and broader stakeholder to develop key risk management and business enabling capabilities through sound processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build out and lead Margin & Collateral Optimization Operations function and organization in India: This will cover processes and activities supporting all product lines and regions, including Futures, Cleared and Bilateral Derivatives, Repo, Prime Brokerage and Collateral Management functions including Collateral Funding and Projections and Collateral Optimization.
- Operate as Key Time-zone Functional Escalation: Serve as the key senior functional escalation point for all business lines within the local and adjacent time-zones.
- Oversee managed services operated by local providers: Including oversight and challenging their operation of key processes and practices.
- Sponsor and drive key strategic initiatives and programmes and investments: As a senior member of the global Margin and Collateral Operations leadership team, operate as sponsor, key decision maker and driving force of strategic programmes and deliverables.
- Leadership: Develop, grow and lead the Margin and Collateral Optimization Operations capability in India, leveraging the regional footprint to enhance global operational efficiency and effectiveness. Serve as a senior point of contact with deep margin and collateral expertise, understanding end-to-end flows, risks, and regulations.
- Partner with key businesses and stakeholders: Operate as an end-to-end owner, supporting key business objectives and supporting key capabilities in a robust, risk appropriate and controlled manner.
- Risk Management: Implement and oversee robust risk management and control capabilities for margin and collateral operations.
- Product Design: Ensure well-designed products and services, aligning developments with the target operating model and design standards through close partnerships with other Margin & Collateral Operations leadership.
- Evaluative Judgment: Provide evaluative judgment based on information analysis in complex, unique, and dynamic situations, drawing on diverse internal and external sources.

Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: BA/BS degree preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years in financial services, with extensive prior experience leading multi-asset margin or collateral functions at a large financial services firm (preferred).
- Margin Knowledge: End-to-end knowledge of margin, including impacts on liquidity, capital, financial & regulatory reporting, books and records, securities, and margin & collateral practices and infrastructure. Understanding of an end-to-end margin and collateral control framework and standards.
- Leadership Skills: Experience leading large global organizations, driving target-oriented performance with a focus on execution, control enhancement, risk management, client service, and transparency.
