Job Summary
The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center is now accepting applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law for the 2026-2027 academic year. The initial appointment will be for one year, but it is anticipated that the visitor will remain for a second year. The visiting professor will have an opportunity to teach legal research, legal writing, and oral advocacy to first-year students. Faculty mentors, alongside the broader law school faculty, will actively provide guidance and support regarding teaching, scholarship, and the pursuit of tenure-track positions within the legal academy.
Job Description:
Responsibilities include preparing course materials, leading class sessions, holding individual conferences with students, reviewing outlines and drafts, evaluating papers, and offering thorough and constructive feedback. (50%)
Visitors are required to conduct scholarly research and produce written work, with the expectation of submitting an article for publication in a law journal by their second year. (40%)
Other duties as assigned (10%)
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants should have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school (foreign equivalencies will also be considered), and have at least one year of significant post-graduate legal, academic, or judicial clerkship experience.
