Major Responsibilities:
- Independently identify gaps in network operations and design, document, and maintain SOPs.
- Own network incidents end-to-end including investigation, root cause analysis, remediation, and post-incident documentation.
- Troubleshoot complex WAN, LAN, and data center issues with minimal guidance.
- Act as a primary on call / shift engineer during night and rotation shifts.
- Proactively identify risks, recurring issues, and operational inefficiencies.
- Convert manual tasks into automated workflows and scripts.
- Deploy, and manage WAN connectivity between data centers, remote sites, and cloud environments.
- Configure and optimize Cisco routers, switches, and interconnects for data center and enterprise networking.
- Work on telecom circuit provisioning and troubleshooting, including MPLS, DIA, and SD-WAN solutions.
- Manage cloud connectivity solutions (e.g., Azure ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect, Google Cloud Interconnect).
- Perform end-to-end troubleshooting for WAN, LAN, and data center connectivity issues.
- Monitor network health and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
- Work closely with other network teams, security teams, and cloud teams to ensure seamless connectivity.
- Maintain detailed documentation on network topology, configurations, and interconnects.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to work independently without reliance on pre-defined SOPs.
- Proven experience creating operational documentation.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a root-cause mindset.
- Hands-on scripting and automation experience (Python, Ansible, PowerShell).
- Hands-on experience in enterprise networking focused on WAN, data center interconnects, and cloud networking.
- Expertise in Cisco networking solutions, including routers (ASR/ISR), switches (Nexus/Catalyst), and SD-WAN technologies.
- A very strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, VRFs, and QoS is a must.
- Experience working with telecom providers for circuit provisioning, troubleshooting, and escalation management.
- Hands-on experience in data center networking, including spine-leaf architectures and EVPN-VXLAN is a must.
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and direct cloud interconnect services.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work in a high-pressure environment supporting critical operations.
