Job Description
 

Specific Job Requirements

  • This position reports to the Director of Medical Affairs (MA), Liver Japan.

  • The primary responsibility of the MA Senior Manager is to lead the planning and execution of strategic data generation and medical programs, including but not limited to advisory boards, educational programs, congress symposia, digital education, and other initiatives, in collaboration with other Liver Medical team members. The role is also expected to develop the Japan ISP (Indication Strategic Plan) and Medical POA (Plan of Action), working closely and collaboratively with Liver Medical Scientists, Medical Affairs colleagues at partner companies, Global MA, and International MA, particularly in the Asia Pacific region, while providing scientific and medical input throughout the product life cycle.Primary responsibilities are as follows:

  • Lead the planning and execution of the Liver LSP and POA, including data generation, publications, and medical education programs, in collaboration with other Liver Medical team members and partners, if applicable, leveraging deep disease-area knowledge and strong logical planning skills.

  • Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in the liver disease area to develop and execute strategic medical activities.

  • Engage in scientific communication with KOLs to provide medical input, broader context, additional data, or answers to questions that arise in relation to commercial, scientific, or data-generation needs.

  • Collaborate effectively with clinical development, regulatory affairs, and commercial teams across multiple areas, including publication planning, speaker education programs, regional advisory meetings, and manuscript review. Excellence in launch preparation is particularly important.

  • Ensure that all interactions and activities in Japan comply with corporate and healthcare compliance guidance, including those related to clinical trials, scientific interactions with internal and external stakeholders, and responses to unsolicited requests for medical or scientific information.

Qualifications: Specific Education and Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Strong experience in Medical Affairs, or R&D within the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Logical thinking and planning skills are essential.

  • Excellent internal and external stakeholder management, communication skills in both Japanese and English, presentation skills, and time management skills are required; the candidate must be adaptable, work effectively within a team, and relate well to people at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to partner with key internal stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and drive plans that achieve or exceed them.

  • Excellent learning agility.

Desired/Preferred

  • Advanced degree in life sciences (PhD, PharmD, or MD) with clinical and research experience in the liver disease area.

  • Demonstrated leadership in ambiguous situations.

  • Advanced written and spoken English skills.

  • Strong project management skills.
