Overview
The Senior Road Engineer is responsible for the planning, design review, coordination, and technical supervision of infra, road and highway projects. The role ensures that road designs are safe, compliant with standards, cost-effective, and constructible, while providing technical leadership and support throughout the project lifecycle from design to construction.
Your role
- Lead planning, preliminary, and detailed design of roads, highways, interchanges, and junctions.
- Prepare and review horizontal and vertical alignments, cross-sections, typical sections, and layouts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable design standards and specifications (IRC, MORTH, AASHTO, local authority codes).
- Review pavement designs (flexible and rigid) and drainage systems.
- Conduct and review traffic studies, road safety audits, and geometric design checks.
- Coordinate with structural, geotechnical, drainage, utilities, and land teams.
- Review drawings, calculations, BOQs, and technical reports.
- Provide technical support during construction and resolve design-related site issues.
- Participate in design reviews, progress meetings, and technical presentations.
- Supervise, guide, and mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Ensure quality, safety, and constructability in all road engineering deliverables.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in road/highway engineering projects with UPDA registraiton Grade A.
- Strong knowledge of highway geometric design, pavement engineering, and drainage.
- Experience with national and international road standards and specifications.
- Proficiency in road design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MX Road, OpenRoads, or similar).
- Ability to review and manage multidisciplinary design inputs.
- Experience providing technical support during construction preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership abilities.
- Experience in large infrastructure, highway, or urban road projects preferred.
