Manufacturing Technician - Sandblasting
Townley
1st Shift: 7am - 430pm, M-F
Additional overtime available based on business needs.
Compensation: $20 per hour
Purpose: As a sandblaster, your job is to remove paint, rust, and other material build-ups from rough surfaces using specialized equipment that sprays abrasive materials. The material is typically a mixture of coarse sand and/or steel shot and compressed air. High pressure forces the mixture through a hose to smooth or clean the surface.
Essential Job Functions:
Remove built-up material from surfaces
Set up and operate a blast booth for steel shot or similar equipment
Load and unload the blast cabinet
Apply and remove non-skid materials as needed
Operates abrasive blasting or steel shot equipment
Lining removal, pressure washing, solvent wiping, grinding and abrasive blasting
Prepares parts for blasting by performing inspection for unwanted materials and other contaminants
Basic trouble-shooting of equipment
Shovel, rake, and/or vacuum sand and metal and place sand and metal in hopper.
Move, stack and deliver materials manually and with the use of a forklift
Collaborating with other departments to complete production orders on time
Complying with internal policies and industry regulations
Follow instructions and/or direction given by supervisors to complete assigned work projects
Ensure work area is clean and safe

Requirements:
Ability to proactively troubleshoot problems
Work as a team within department and with other departments and Leads
Ability to work scheduled hours and comply with all other company policies
Experience in various blasting operations
Required Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
Physical capability to properly handle tooling and safely set up large pieces; including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning products.
Must be able to stand, sit and bend for long periods of time.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing environment: loud noise levels, high temperatures, dirt and sand.
Required PPE: steel-toed shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, dust masks, and/or respirators and blasting hood(s) as needed.
