Description of Work
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor at a multi-custody female correctional facility, this position provides facility maintenance support predominantly in the trade area of plumbing. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Performing journey level duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air, gas, water, and waste disposal systems.
2. Performing routine work assignments based on the nature of the location of the needed repair with assignments involving work of special or unusual nature are accompanied by specific instructions.
3. Exercising considerable independence in performance of routine work while unprecedented assignments are usually discussed with or supervised by foreman.
4. Reviewing work through inspection of work in progress and on the basis of satisfactory operation of equipment repaired or installed.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

The salary grade for this position is NC08. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About Anson Correctional Institution:
Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

Minimum Education and Experience

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND two years of experience in the repair, replacement or construction of piping systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
