The Water Conveyance Engineer designs, analyzes, and supports water and wastewater conveyance infrastructure, including force mains, gravity sewers, pump stations, and temporary bypass systems. This role involves developing hydraulic calculations and models, preparing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports, and supporting construction through RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, and field issue resolution. The engineer coordinates with internal project teams and external stakeholders, ensures compliance with applicable codes and regulations, and contributes to constructability reviews, temporary bypass planning, value engineering, cost estimates, and schedule considerations throughout the project lifecycle.

What it takes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 3+ years of experience designing or supporting water and wastewater conveyance systems
  • Solid understanding of hydraulic principles, pipe materials, and pumping systems
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including AWWA, ASTM, ASME, and local municipal requirements
  • Experience using engineering design and analysis tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydraulic modeling software
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, construction teams, and clients
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed to support design and construction activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or active progression toward PE licensure
  • Experience with pipeline rehabilitation methods such as CIPP, sliplining, and pipe bursting
  • Familiarity with temporary bypass pumping plans and flow management strategies
  • Understanding of construction sequencing, constructability, and field operations
