About the role

The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Data Scientist to work with our customer at Eglin AFB, FL. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Joint Staff J6 Joint Assessment Division (JAD) conduct system of systems interoperability assessments as well as Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) data centricity assessments.  The Data Scientist will participate as a member of an integrated team solving technical problems during assessments for the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Job Description:

Develop processes for modeling data to conduct operational analysis. The Data Scientist works with analysts and data engineers to develop data models, design data storage, integrate disparate data, process and curate data, and apply data science techniques to prepare data for analysis to answer measures, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that improve Joint Force capabilities. Requires a working knowledge of relational databases, data scripting languages (e.g., Python, R), data visualization techniques, and cloud-based computing environments. Familiarity with virtual computing concepts and modern technology stacks is desirable.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Familiarity with preliminary data processes (EDA, data cleaning, data wrangling, database framework, normalization).
  • Experience handling large complex datasets from multiple sources.
  • Strong background with relevant programming languages (SQL, Python, R).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TS Clearance. Secret Clearance required to start position.
  • Ability to obtain a CompTIA Security + certification.
  • Capability to lift 50 lbs. to support occasional movement of equipment.
  • Professional writing and oral presentation skills, MS Office proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • US citizen with an active Top Secret clearance.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE certification.
  • Strong capacity for logical reasoning, data interpretation, and problem solving.
  • Familiarity with API data extraction techniques.
  • Exposure to other software development languages (e.g., c#, JavaScript, TypeScript).
  • Experience applying qualitative and quantitative analytical methodologies to evaluate operational effectiveness and system performance within complex environments.
  • Experience working within or supporting the Department of War (DoW), including strong familiarity with military operations, systems, and capabilities.
  • Ability to incorporate visualization tools with industry-standard libraries.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
