About the Role:
We are searching for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Corporate Engineering team! As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer together with other engineers you will be responsible for the continuous operation, further development and enhancement of Planet’s corporate infrastructure and applications.
This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our Berlin office 3 days per week.
Impact You’ll Own:
- Help to ensure the operation of Planet’s internal IT systems
- Improve existing and create new solutions
- Drive the infrastructure setup and maintenance of our new location
- Architect, deploy, and maintain high-availability campus network environments
- Drive the infrastructure setup and maintenance of our new location
- Scripting & Tooling: Use Python or Go to automate repetitive network tasks, configuration management, and data collection. Identify and reduce operational toil through automation, making our systems self-healing and predictable
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Leverage Terraform, Ansible, or SaltStack to manage network configurations as code, moving away from manual CLI changes
- Architect, deploy, and maintain high-availability environments using Juniper (Junos), Arista (EOS), and HP Aruba switching/routing platforms
- Participate in an on-call rotation and drive the continuous improvement of incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and post-mortem processes
- Collaborate closely with Security and other IT teams to embed reliability, scalability, and security best practices from the ground up
What You Bring:
- 6+ years experience in infrastructure development and/or operations
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a related field
- Expertise with a scripting language like Python
- Advanced experience with LAN/WAN technologies, protocols and best practices, e.g. BGP
- Experience with Juniper (Junos), Arista (EOS), and HP Aruba switching/routing platforms
- Track record of working with large web applications or computer clusters
- Hands-on experience with Linux deployment and administration
- Advanced experience using configuration management tools (i.e. Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Saltstack) in a production environment (we use Salt and Terraform)
- Solid understanding of Network principles and operations
- Advanced experience with LAN/WAN technologies, protocols and best practices, e. g. BGP

- Awareness of best practices about systems security and defensive programming
