As a Senior Backend Engineer at Capco, you will:

  • Apply strong engineering best practices and contribute to continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Bring deep technical expertise across Java and Spring Boot, with the curiosity to expand into other parts of the tech stack.
  • Deliver high‑quality software using modern Agile methodologies.
  • Make hands‑on contributions to products and solutions, clearly articulating their value to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in the design and delivery of critical business applications, including customer‑facing systems.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts with clarity and confidence across technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in financial services and experiment with new tools and frameworks.
  • Collaborate with engineering peers to help define the future of digital platforms in finance.

Skills & Expertise

You will have experience working with the following methodologies/technologies:

Job Qualification:

  • 6+ years of professional experience in back-end software development.
  • Strong proficiency in Java 8+, Spring Boot, Microservices, Gradle/Maven, and Mockito.
  • Solid understanding of object-orientated programming with exposure to functional programming concepts.
  • Excellent knowledge of Java collections, concurrency, and performance optimization.
  • Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs.
  • Good understanding of both relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong experience with unit testing, static code analysis, and BDD/TDD methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Nexus.
  • Demonstrated experience working in Agile teams.
  • Ability to perform code reviews and mentor junior developers.
  • Ability to write clean, secure, maintainable, and highly available code.
  • Strong understanding of architectural patterns and web application design.
  • Experience with containerisation technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Terraform and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience modernising monolithic systems into microservices.
  • Exposure to serverless technologies (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, GCP Functions).
  • Experience with messaging platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.
  • Understanding of security standards and protocols (OAuth2, SAML, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience working with at least one major cloud provider.
  • Experience integrating with third‑party applications and vendors.
  • Exposure to QA automation and integration with CI/CD pipelines
