The PA/NP will work in collaboration with board-certified emergency physicians to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. Responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries, performing procedures, interpreting diagnostic tests, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments.

This is a 1.0 FTE exempt position. Emergency medicine APPs follow a rotating shift schedule inclusive of nights, weekends, and holidays with applicable differentials.  This position will include rotating through the ED observation unit in addition to acute care shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct focused history taking and physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic testing, and perform necessary procedures within a fast-paced clinical environment

  • Work closely with ED attendings in a collaborative care model, staffing all ESI levels 1, 2, and 3s

  • Ordering and calling appropriate consults to coordinate specialty emergency care, inclusive of calling hospitalists for admissions

  • Ability to multitask by seeing and managing multiple active patients at a time

  • Document HPIs, clinical findings, interpretation of labs and imaging, disposition and treatment plans accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system (EPIC)

  • Complete rotating shifts through the observation unit

Experience

  • 3 years clinical PA/NP experience preferred; or 2 years plus completion of an approved post graduate emergency medicine training program.

  • The ideal candidate will have clinical emergency medicine and/or urgent care experience. New graduates are not able to be considered for this position.

Education

PA: Completion of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved program (prior to January 2001 – Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs). Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.

NP: Completion of a master's, post-master's, or doctorate from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or an equivalent body is required.
