JOB SUMMARY:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately processing employee payroll for two locations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and internal policies. This role supports payroll-related inquiries, maintains payroll records, and collaborates with HR and Finance to ensure timely and accurate compensation.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for employees
- Ensure accuracy of timekeeping data, including hours worked, overtime, and PTO
- Maintain and update payroll records, deductions, and tax withholdings
- Review and audit payroll data to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Manage payroll adjustments such as retroactive pay and bonuses
- Prepare payroll reports for management
- Coordinate with HR on new hires, terminations, and employee status changes
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, garnishments. and benefit deductions
- Manage year-end processing, including W-2’s and audits
- Support system implementations related to payroll by providing payroll expertise, advising on requirements, and executing testing and validation activities
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR or related field
- 3 - 5 years’ payroll processing experience
- Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of payroll systems; experience with Dayforce preferred
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong understanding of payroll laws and tax regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy
