Department Overview

The Video Hardware Engineering Team at Motorola Solutions (MSI) is chartered to design fixed video surveillance cameras and body worn
cameras.

Job Description

• Join our team in developing mission-critical fixed surveillance cameras. This internship bridges the gap between academic theory and industrial execution, offering hands-on experience with Video SoC architectures and high-speed memory interfaces.

• Master SoC Interfaces: Develop a deep understanding of the critical links between high-performance SoCs and high-speed memory (DDR4/LPDDR4/5).

• Hardware Validation: Conduct hands-on hardware bring-up and signal integrity testing using advanced lab equipment, including oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.

• Memory Tuning: Assist in optimizing memory timings and parameters to ensure system stability and peak performance under heavy video processing loads.

• Stress Testing: Validate hardware against complex, real-world test cases to ensure mission-critical reliability in extreme environments.

• Performance Optimization: Move beyond theoretical design into the rigorous world of hardware validation and system-level performance tuning.

Basic Requirements

• Education: Pursuing a degree in Electronic or Computer Engineering.

• Core Knowledge: Strong understanding of digital/analog circuits and Signal Integrity (impedance, crosstalk).

• Tools: Familiarity with DSOs, Multimeters, and EDA software (Altium, Allegro, or KiCad).

• Skills: Ability to read schematics, basic soldering, and basic scripting (Python/C).

• Mindset: Methodical troubleshooter with strong technical documentation skills.
