The Market Risk Lead supports bp’s Supply, Trading & Shipping (ST&S) business by providing independent risk insight, analysis, and challenge to support informed commercial decision-making. This role partners with trading, finance, risk, and technology teams to strengthen risk management practices, enhance analytics, and promote a consistent risk culture across global operations.
Job Summary
Market Risk Management
- Provide independent oversight and challenge of trading activities within established risk frameworks.
- Assess market risks associated with trading portfolios, new business opportunities, and central initiatives.
- Support the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of emerging market risks.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of market risk standards, policies, and governance practices.
Risk Analytics & Reporting
- Deliver market risk analysis and reporting that provides meaningful insights into portfolio exposures and risk drivers.
- Develop and enhance risk analytics, methodologies, and tools to support effective decision-making.
- Translate complex risk information into clear and actionable recommendations for partners.
- Support the continuous improvement of risk measurement, reporting, and monitoring processes.
Collaboration & Partner Engagement
- Partner with Front Office, Finance, Risk, and Technology teams to support business objectives and risk management priorities.
- Build effective relationships across functions, regions, and teams to encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and share market risk knowledge across the organization.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education, professional experience, and transferable skills will also be considered.
Professional Background
- Proven experience in market risk, trading, analytics, finance, quantitative analysis, risk management, consulting, or related fields.
- Experience working with data analysis, reporting, and risk metrics.
- Familiarity with financial or commodity markets is beneficial.
- Experience with analytical tools such as Excel, Python, VBA, or similar technologies is advantageous.

Work Location & Shift Pattern
- São Paulo, Brazil.
- Hybrid model: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote.
