Job Description
The AWS Infrastructure Finance team provides end-to-end financial support, driving AWS to be the lowest cost provider in Cloud computing and leader in customer experience. We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our AWS Energy Finance team. The AWS Energy team is responsible for (1) Delivering Energy to AWS Data Centers, (2) Procuring Renewable Energy to support our 100% Renewable Energy goal, and (3) Developing our Sustainability and Carbon Strategy. This team provides critical support in the form of financial valuation, investment decisions, and driving the global portfolio strategy for Amazon’s Energy and Renewable Energy portfolio.
We are looking for a Sr. Financial Analyst to support the end-to-end energy portfolio: financial planning and analysis (FP&A) reporting, energy opex and capex portfolio reporting, Month End Close processes, automation support, and more. Finance provides critical valuation support, thought leadership, financial acumen and controllership, and aids in critical decision making both at the deal and portfolio level. Our team owns the financial controllership processes and FP&A reporting and consolidation that scale with the portfolio’s growth. This includes utilities opex and energy market rate forecasting, energy and water capex forecasting, new region energy rate forecast, and partnership with the stakeholder teams (business teams, accounting, and technical product teams). Our team has invested in automation functionality for month end close and financial planning process, and we continue integrating our tools and systems to allow for end-to-end automation of our portfolio reporting.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you can expect to:
- Drive the energy market forecasting across global markets, supporting our AWS energy portfolio
- Present energy market rate quarterly forecast recommendations to Energy business partners and finance partners, developing a deep knowledge of the global energy market
- Report on the financial performance of our Energy Portfolio and assist the preparation of quarterly and annual reviews
- Partner with energy data vendors to source data for our Energy portfolio (Utilities OpEx)
- Complete Month End Close reporting for Utilities OpEx, including writing commentary on rate and volume variance drivers
- Complete Accruals for Utility OpEx based on actual energy market rates and invoiced amounts each month

- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of Tableau
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
- 4+ years of Accounts Receivable or Account Payable experience

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of Tableau
