Job Summary
This role is responsible for end-to-end quality relationship with allocated Electronic Components supply base. This role qualifies LED (L1 and L2) suppliers, validates and releases components and related manufacturing processes in different business configurations. Responsible for implementing supplier quality functional excellence initiatives in accordance with Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) approach and applicable methods. Authorized to veto for quality reasoning if necessary.
Key Areas of Responsibility
• Agrees and signs off on supplier quality requirements and updates quality related terms in Specification Documents.
• Drives early supplier engagement in New Product Development and Launch process and validates release of Electronic components, assemblies, and processes at suppliers.
• Implements supplier improvement initiatives, reviews and approves supplier improvement plans, and monitors progress.
• Supports business reviews with suppliers and reports on supplier quality performance.
• Controls and approves changes of products and processes at suppliers using industry standard practices and validates product and engineering change notifications.
• Supports sustainability programs and audit teams related to supplier quality.
• Analyzes incidents at suppliers and validates and approves corrective and preventive actions.
• Participates in improvement programs such as cost down projects, new material introductions, and Hoshin initiatives.
• Supports scouting and assessment of new and existing suppliers.
• Prepares data and rationale for cost recovery in incidents and supports Supplier Account Manager in negotiations.
• Owns Production Part Approval Process deliverables and assures quality and timely delivery.
• Supports Supplier Account Manager in negotiations and manages quality elements in General Purchasing Agreements.
• Resolves complaints quickly and completely and manages approval or disapproval closure of complaints.
• Supports supplier development team in identifying and achieving savings.
• Trains own personnel and suppliers in supplier quality processes and tools.
Critical Experiences
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in supplier quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role within a manufacturing or technology environment - Experience and knowledge of Electronic Components and specifically LEDs (L1 and L2) is preferred.
Experience in the use of quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), 8D Problem Solving Methodology, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Control Plan (CP), Process Flow Diagram (PFD), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Quality Planning (AQP)
• Knowledgeable in Six Sigma and Lean principles or equivalent certification is highly recommended.
