Overview
The Senior Director, Platform Quality & Architecture is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, security, and architectural integrity of ScriptMed, a SaaS-based specialty pharmacy platform. This role leads global (onshore/offshore) Agile teams accountable for validating the platform through manual quality assurance and automated testing and manages a team of architects specializing in database, cloud, and security architecture. The Senior Director partners closely with Product, Engineering, Security, and Operations to establish quality standards, reduce delivery risk, and support compliance requirements applicable to healthcare technology.
Scope & Impact
Accountable for platform-wide quality practices and architectural standards across ScriptMed services, integrations, and tenant environments. Leads multiple scrum teams and people leaders in a blended onshore/offshore model, ensuring consistent delivery and measurable results. Establish enterprise-grade quality governance and automation that improves release confidence, reduces defects, and lowers operational risk. Oversees architecture disciplines (database, cloud, security) to support scalability, performance, availability, data integrity, and secure-by-design principles. Supports audit readiness and control evidence through disciplined SDLC, testing, change management, and documentation practices.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy Define and execute the platform Quality Engineering and Architecture strategy aligned to business goals, product roadmap, and customer commitments. Build and lead high-performing global teams, including team structure, staffing plans, career development, and performance management. Establish operating cadences and cross-functional governance (e.g., release readiness, defect triage, architecture reviews) to ensure accountability and transparency.
Platform Quality Engineering (Manual QA and Automated Testing) Own the end-to-end testing and validation approach for ScriptMed, including functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and non-functional testing. Develop and scale automated test capabilities (UI, API, service/integration tests) integrated into CI/CD pipelines to improve speed and reliability. Define and enforce quality standards and practices (definition of done, quality gates, test sign-off criteria, defect management). Implement environment and test data strategies to enable repeatable testing across multiple tenants and deployment environments. Establish metrics and reporting to drive continuous improvement (e.g., escaped defects, defect trends, automation coverage, cycle time, release readiness).
Platform Architecture (Database, Cloud, Security) Manage and develop an architecture team responsible for database, cloud, and security architecture domains. Establish and govern architecture standards, reference patterns, and design review processes that support scalability, resiliency, and secure operation. Partner with Engineering and Operations to improve non-functional requirements, including performance, availability, capacity planning, and disaster recovery posture. Ensure architectural alignment for internal services and external integrations across the specialty pharmacy ecosystem.
Risk, Compliance, and Controls Partner with Security and Compliance stakeholders to ensure platform validation and architecture practices support applicable regulatory requirements and internal controls. Ensure testing evidence, documentation, and change management practices support audit readiness and risk management objectives. Drive incorporation of security testing and vulnerability management practices into the SDLC and release processes.
