Job Description

Your opportunity

At Mollie, we’re on a mission to make payments and money management effortless for every business in Europe.

Today, we serve more than 250,000 businesses across Europe with an all-in-one solution that simplifies payments and money management. And we’re a 850-strong team of product, finance, support, commerce, and engineering specialists working across Europe – from Lisbon to London.

In this role, you will help design, build, integrate, and scale AI-powered applications and workflows that create direct impact across the business. You will work closely with Machine Learning Engineers as well as with Application Engineers across different Domains and Teams, to deliver pragmatic agentic AI solutions for both internal users and Mollie customers.

This role is a strong fit for an engineer who enjoys applied AI, product integration, and building useful systems with modern tooling. The focus of the role is not model research or training deep learning systems from scratch. Instead, it is about using existing AI models, platforms, and open-source tools to create reliable, production-minded AI applications that help Mollie further its mission to eliminate financial bureaucracy.

What you will be doing:

  • Build and customise the frontend interfaces of AI-powered tools and platforms, ensuring they are intuitive and maintainable

  • Build and integrate agentic AI applications, tools, and workflows for internal and customer-facing use cases

  • Develop agent-based and workflow-driven solutions with modern AI orchestration tools, across both low-code and code-first approaches

  • Use and extend open-source AI software such as LibreChat, browser-based automation tools, and related components

  • Build, integrate, and maintain MCP Servers and related interfaces that enable AI systems and agents to interact safely and effectively with business capabilities and internal tools

  • Contribute to application development primarily in Typescript and Python, with some integrations where Java knowledge is useful

What you will bring:

  • 1–3 years of relevant software engineering experience, with a strong tilt towards frontend engineering

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field

  • A Master’s degree in one of those areas is preferred

  • Solid hands-on programming ability in TypeScript, with working knowledge of Python (and preferably Java) for integrating with existing systems

  • Familiarity with public cloud infrastructure, ideally Google Cloud Platform

  • Familiarity with agent orchestration and AI workflow tooling, e.g. Google Agentic Development Kit (ADK), OpenAI Agents SDK, LangGraph, or PydanticAI

  • Interest in and exposure to open-source AI tooling and modern LLM ecosystems

  • Comfortable with modern DevOps/MLOps practices as they relate to AI applications
