Vice President, Corporate and CEO Communications
Position is based in Bloomfield, CT with full relocation support or New York, NY, with frequent travel to Bloomfield
The Cigna Group has an exciting opportunity for a senior communications leader to serve as Head of Corporate Communications. This role will be the enterprise owner of CEO communications including strategy and all written materials for internal and external audiences (investors, clients, employees, etc). This position will also be a central architect of the company’s enterprise communications strategy – ensuring clarity, alignment, and impact across internal and external audiences.
Operating as a highly trusted advisor to the CEO and the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, this role leads the planning, development, and execution of CEO communications while also driving disciplined, enterprise‑wide communications planning and messaging. This position sits at the intersection of strategy, communications, and leadership – translating enterprise priorities into compelling narratives, high‑stakes communications, and disciplined engagement across employees, customers, partners, policymakers, and other key stakeholders.
The right candidate will have a proven track record writing and examples of materials for senior leaders to various stakeholder groups. The role involves crafting executive communications for the CEO, developing speeches, and collaborating with stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
CEO Communications Strategic Planning and Execution
- Serve as the enterprise owner of CEO communications strategy, voice, and positioning across internal and external audiences and channels.
- Develop content for internal and external communications, including scripts, newsletters, speeches, and other communications materials.
- Create engaging content with a strong understanding of how to craft impactful messaging.
- Define and oversee the CEO communications strategy, including speeches, enterprise announcements, internal messages, and external engagements, including media.
- final editorial authority for CEO communications, ensuring clarity, consistency, strategic alignment, and authenticity to the CEO’s leadership style.
- Partner closely with Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs, Legal, Investor Relations, and business leaders to align CEO messaging with enterprise priorities and stakeholder needs.
- Operate as a strategic integrator across the CEO’s office – connecting communications, enterprise strategy, stakeholder engagement, and execution.
- Anticipate issues, opportunities, and reputational risks; prepare decision‑ready materials; and enable the CEO to operate at the highest level of effectiveness.
- Lead preparation and execution for CEO‑led programs, engagements, and enterprise moments requiring precision, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Accountable for briefings for sales and client-specific meetings and materials.
Leadership, Judgment & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a highly trusted advisor to the CEO and Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, exercising exceptional judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence in sensitive, high‑stakes situations.
- Influence and collaborate with senior leaders, functional partners, and external stakeholders across the enterprise.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team, fostering excellence, accountability, and growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- 15+ years of experience in executive communications or corporate communications with significant experience partnering with a CEO or C‑suite executive.
- Demonstrated expertise in CEO‑level communications planning and high‑stakes, enterprise‑wide communications.
- Health care or highly regulated industry experience is required.
- Exceptional writing skills with the ability to adapt tone, voice, and style seamlessly across stakeholders, including investors, employees, client and consumers
- Executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to operate with discretion in highly sensitive situations.
