Job Description

It’s a great time to join Marymount University!  We are looking for faculty and staff who are passionate about providing excellent service to ensure a high quality student experience and collaborative working environment.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in developing and implementing lesson plans and daily classroom activities that are developmentally appropriate for preschool-aged children

  • Maintain a well-kept, healthy and safe classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence

  • Foster a positive, organized and healthy learning environment

  • Supervise children during play and learning activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times

  • Assist with daily classroom routines, including meal and nap times, and help maintain an organized classroom environment.

  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding their child’s progress and development

  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and other team members to create a positive and supportive learning environment

  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and other training opportunities as required

  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all children in the classroom

  • Attend continuing training/education classes designed to broaden professionalism, knowledge, and skills involving early childhood development as required by Federal and State regulations and the administration

  • Ensure that all children are treated with respect, dignity, and kindness

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.

  • Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in a classroom or childcare setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.

  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices.

Certifications

  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification 

  • Background check

  • Documentation of negative TB screening/test 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move around for long hours at a time while teach

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel as needed
