As a detail-oriented Sr. Cost Accountant at Carbon Robotics you’ll play a critical role in owning and executing all cost accounting activities for the business.  This role is hands-on and critical to maintaining accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and margin integrity in a manufacturing environment.  

What you’ll do:

  • Own end-to-end cost accounting, including standard costing, inventory, WIP, COGS, reserves, and reconciliation
  • Maintain, roll, and validate costs: ensure accuracy of BoMs, routing, labor, and overhead rates
  • Lead monthly and quarterly cost close, including manufacturing variances and inventory accounting
  • Perform detailed variance analysis (PPV, material usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption) and communicate root causes 
  • Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and field operations teams to track cost drivers and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure inventory controls and accurate valuation across warehouses
  • Partner with FP&A on budgets, forecast, and long-range cost planning
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls; support audits as required
  • Prepare executive-level reporting and ad-hoc analyses for leadership

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory control
  • Experience working with NetSuite (ERP), Arena (PLM), Tulip (MES)
  • Proficient in Excel and financial modeling
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and locations
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is a plus
