Responsible for supporting the administration, analysis, and ongoing improvement of the Company’s health, welfare, and retirement benefit programs. Partners with the Benefits Manager and cross-functional teams to oversee plan operations, manage vendor relationships, monitor cost and utilization trends, and ensure regulatory compliance. Supports benefits reporting, plan governance, and strategic decision-making to ensure programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with organizational objectives.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Supports the administration and ongoing management of the Company’s health, welfare, and retirement benefit programs, including plan operations, eligibility, payroll integration, and data reconciliation.
Serves as a subject matter resource to HR, Payroll, Finance, and other stakeholders on benefits data, reporting, plan performance, and vendor operations.
Collects, validates, and analyzes benefits data from HRIS, benefits platforms, payroll systems, and vendors to identify trends in utilization, enrollment, costs, and plan performance.
Performs financial, utilization, and participation analyses to support medical, disability, and retirement programs, including budgeting, forecasting, and enrollment modeling.
Oversees benefits and retirement vendor performance by monitoring service levels, reviewing reporting outputs, and addressing operational issues.
Supports retirement plan governance and compliance, including committee materials, ERISA reporting, audits, nondiscrimination testing coordination, and documentation reviews.
Develops and maintains recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support leadership decision-making.
Supports annual enrollment and benefits-related projects, including vendor implementations, system integrations, plan changes, and process improvements.
Provides data-driven recommendations to support program enhancements, vendor management, and plan design decisions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Nature and Scope
Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.
Work Environment
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred with 4–6 years of experience in benefits administration, analytics, or HR-related analytical roles.
Strong knowledge of health, welfare, and retirement benefit programs, including defined contribution plans.
Experience with HRIS, benefits platforms, vendor reporting, and advanced Excel; data visualization tools preferred.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and confidentiality.
