The Position
The Position
In Roche’s China Early Development (ED) Center of Excellence (CoE), we play a critical role in accelerating the global early development of transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. We are a strategic partner to global early development teams of Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED), Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED), and pharma Product Development (PD) to integrate China into the global early development programs. Together, we bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.
This position is located in the clinical science function of Roche Product Development China, home of the China ED CoE. This position is dedicated to leading and driving early development programs in oncology and hematology therapeutic areas as a clinical lead.
The Opportunity
This role will have the opportunity to shape global early development strategy and CDP, to drive innovative early development trial design, to make significant impacts to the efficiency and success of our early development programs in oncology/hematology, and contribute to the China drug development innovation ecosystem.
In your role, you will:
- Contribute to and influence global asset strategy and early development CDP as a member of the global asset teams
- Proactively identify opportunities of accelerating and optimizing global ED CDP leveraging expertise, experience, speed, and scale in China
- Lead the China cross-functional team to evaluate opportunities of China joining global ED programs or China-first trials from strategic, scientific, regulatory, and operational perspectives
- Drive innovative trial design and trial conduct in close partnership with global early development functional experts on China-first clinical trials
- Being the Medical Monitor for China ED clinical trials
- Scientifically engage China TAEs, Roche internal and external stakeholders
- Serve as a scientific point of contact to global early development asset teams of oncology/hematology
- Mentor junior medical directors to further build capability and capacity of ED CoE
Who you are
- You hold a MD in oncology/hematology, or a Bachelor/Master of Clinical Medicine with at least 3 years of post-graduation clinical practice in oncology/hematology
- You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in biopharmaceutical industry and extensive early development experience in oncology/hematology
- You have hands-on experience in developing early development CDP, designing and running early development clinical trials, interacting with Health Authorities, collaborating with investigators and clinical research You have a very good understanding of oncology/hematology global development guidelines and regulations, including CDE, FDA and EMEA
- You are an effective communicator: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts to global cross functional teams, governance committees and key stakeholders in a logical and succinct manner
- You are a great team player; highly collaborative, good interpersonal and influencing skills, can influence without authority
