This position is limited to current students at the University of Texas at Austin. This position is expected to cover the 2026 Summer semester with the opportunity to extend based on the availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals. Both Work-Study and non-Work-Study students are encouraged to apply.
Looking for availability during the following times:
Monday – Friday, 8 am - 12 pm, 1-5 pm.
Shifts are flexible when arranged in advance with other student assistants and with the approval of the student employee supervisor.
Purpose:
The College of Fine Arts Dean’s Office is seeking a student assistant to support the Dean’s Office Front Desk for Summer 2026. Student Assistants will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of our college. They will be the first line-of-contact, welcoming and directing all visitors. In addition, this student position provides essential administrative support to the Dean’s Office.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the front desk receptionist, greeting visitors and managing incoming calls for the Dean’s Office.
Perform general administrative duties such as filing, scanning, copying, labeling, and data entry.
Support event logistics, including setup, staffing, guest services, and document distribution.
Maintain office and kitchen supplies through regular inventory checks and restocking.
Maintain event signage on bulletin boards around the DFA building.
Other administrative tasks as assigned by Front Desk Administrative Associate.
Other tasks as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Required Qualifications:
Must be a University of Texas at Austin student, enrolled for at least 6 credit hours.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Ability to multitask and take initiative.
Reliable and punctual work commitment.
Strong communication skills.
Demonstrated attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of the College of Fine Arts departments and programs.
Customer service experience.
Interest for learning more about administration and marketing in the arts (no prior knowledge necessary).
1st or 2nd year student.
College of Fine Arts student.
Working Conditions:
Work performed in standard office conditions.
Repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation.
Occasional need to lift or move up to 25 lbs.

Communicate ideas clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats with individuals inside and outside the college.
Leverage existing digital technologies ethically and efficiently to solve problems, complete tasks, and accomplish goals.

Knowledge and hands on experience with the planning, execution, and closing of event planning.
Experience working in a university office setting.
Schedule Work Shift:
7-10 hours per week.
Rehire eligible based on performance
Compensation:
$12 .00/hour.
