POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an exceptional Engineering Team Leader to join our growing organization. This is a hands-on leadership position with an expected balance of 70% individual contributor work and 30% management responsibilities. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with outstanding leadership capabilities and a genuine passion for both building software and developing people.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Hands-On Technical Contribution
- You are deeply involved in the codebase, contributing meaningful code alongside your team. This includes owning significant features or components, participating in architectural decisions, conducting code reviews, and ensuring engineering best practices are followed. We value leaders who stay technically sharp and lead by example.
- You will collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Leadership and People Development
- You will lead and manage a team of highly skilled engineers, setting clear expectations and creating an environment where individuals can do their best work. A core part of your responsibility involves mentoring team members in their professional and personal growth - helping them identify development opportunities, providing constructive feedback, and supporting their career progression.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Leadership and Communication
- Superb communication skills are essential - both verbal and written. You must be able to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, from engineers to product stakeholders. We need someone who can inspire and motivate a team of accomplished professionals, fostering collaboration while maintaining high standards. You bring infectious energy and demonstrate sustained high motivation that elevates those around you.
Technical Expertise
- You have in-depth knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with proficiency in deploying applications using containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with infrastructure as code and modern CI/CD practices is expected.
- Strong proficiency in Python and Go programming languages is a must, including deep understanding of their ecosystems and best practices.
- Experience with methodologies utilizing AI agents to enhance software development is highly valued - we are actively exploring how these technologies can improve engineering productivity and product capabilities.
Technical Environment
- Cloud: GCP (GKE, Cloud Storage, Secret Manager, IAM)
- Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Helm, FluxCD, Terraform, GitHub Actions
- Data: JanusGraph, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch
- Services: Go , Python, gRPC, Cadence workflows
- Auth: Auth0, OPA (or similar), custom ABAC policies
- Observability: Open Telemetry, Sentry
