Job Description

At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections,  where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world.

Are you ready to join a global network spanning 20+ countries, where bright minds collaborate to tackle real-world challenges in Innovation & Sustainability? Do you want to work on impactful projects, shape the future, and drive change from within?

As an intern, you will contribute to a project focused on building a unified data foundation for safety and sustainability reporting. The project aims to define and govern the functional data standards needed to turn technical site data into meaningful, comparable, and audit-ready disclosures aligned with regulatory requirements such as CSRD and EUDR. Within your first 3 months, you are expected to help develop a global sustainability data dictionary, perform a regulatory gap analysis, contribute to a KPI calculation logic prototype, and support a data maturity roadmap for more reliable reporting. Your work will help Roche strengthen sustainability transparency, improve global comparability of environmental and safety metrics, and provide the data foundation needed to track progress against corporate targets. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of digital transformation, sustainability, and global reporting strategy.

The Opportunity

  • Map corporate sustainability scopes such as climate, water, biodiversity, and workforce to the underlying raw data requirements needed for reporting

  • Develop a global business glossary and standardize KPI calculation logic to improve consistency and comparability across sites

  • Translate complex sustainability regulations into clear business and technical requirements for data engineering teams

  • Formalize a sustainability data dictionary covering business terms, units of measure, and calculation formulas for governance tools

  • Perform a gap analysis of current site-level data availability against CSRD and EUDR disclosure requirements

  • Support the development of logic blueprints for key indicators such as Scope 3 emissions or water management metrics

  • Help identify improvements needed in data collection and standardization to reach audit-ready limited assurance status

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across sustainability, reporting, and data teams to create a stronger foundation for compliant disclosures

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your studies at a university, preferably in the field of Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Governance, Data Management and Architecture, or a related field within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months.

Furthermore you are

  • Knowledgeable in data architecture, governance concepts, metadata management, and business logic modeling

  • Familiar with sustainability reporting topics and ideally with regulations such as CSRD and EUDR

  • Able to work with environmental accounting concepts, including energy, water, and emissions-related metrics

  • Comfortable creating structured functional specifications, logic blueprints, and documentation for technical teams

  • An analytical and strategic thinker who communicates clearly across stakeholder groups in English; German is a plus

If you meet most but not all qualifications, we still encourage you to apply.

Additional information

The internship is expected to start between 1 and 16 July 2026 and will last at least 3 months.
