About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Payroll Associate Manager.


In this role, you will:

  • Manage the accurate processing of payroll but may also include coordinating operational activities amongst the team, handling escalations, participating in User Acceptance System Testing, training and documenting standard operating procedures
  • Supervise entry to mid-level roles in transactional or tactical low complexity tasks to ensure timely completion, quality and compliance of payroll information
  • Help define enterprise-wide standards for practices of financial controls related to payroll activities and compliance; assist team in career development and assigning stretch goals
  • Supervise and guide others to perform low complexity payroll analysis; guide others on the technical aspects on Workday payroll processing’s and ensure that configuration implementations are tested and approved
  • Translate Wage & Hour regulations and apply knowledge to payroll processing as well as payroll system configurations
  • Advise manager, gives direction to team members and escalate non-routine questions; problem solves low complexity and multiple steps processes with ease
  • Make decisions and resolve nonstandard escalations minimizing legal compliance consequences and impact on operations
  • Mitigate payroll regulatory risks by monitoring upcoming industry changes and implementing new payroll approaches and practices
  • Collaborate with and consult with peers, colleagues and mid-level managers; interact directly with internal and external customers, vendors, product teams and respond to the raised concerns as well as determine appropriate course of action
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Payroll
  • Be responsible for selection, evaluation, and development of staff


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: HR Operations, Accounting, Payroll, Payroll Tax, Compliance, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 1+ years of leadership experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business or related discipline.
  • Experience in India End-to-End Payroll Operations, final settlement preparation & Payroll Statutory compliance (Income tax, PF, PT, ESIC, LWF, NPS, Gratuity, Stat bonus, etc.)
  • Preparing Monthly Payroll inputs and validate the same via maker checker process, 100% of Payroll output validation from Gorss to net for active employees and final settlement (including statutory deductions).
  • Preparing payroll related MIS reports like CTC variance, head count, pay revision and quality reports.
  • Experience in Onboarding process for new joiners including statutory enrollments, new hire form filling, Validation, etc.
  • Good knowledge of Statutory outputs reports validation & returns filing (Income Tax, PF, PT, ESIC, LWF, NPS, Gratuity, Stat Bonus., etc.).
  • Good knowledge of India tax and labor laws.
  • Good Knowledge of 24Q filing and Form 16 preparation.
  • Basic GL accounting knowledge is required.
  • Good Knowledge of SAP/Global View Payroll Administration & and reconciliation of FBP reimbursements.
  • Good Knowledge of RSR, RSU, ESPP and ESOP process.
  • Experience in Internal/External Payroll/Full and Final Settlement/Statutory Audits.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Medium to Advance MS Office skills, data entry skills.
  • Experience in working with prominent industry ERP tools eg. Workday, PeopleSoft, ServiceNow SAP, and ADP Global View.
  • Must be able to adapt to change well


Job Expectations:

  • People Manager role with 5 to 10 people reporting.
  • Manage the accurate processing of active payroll and final settlement inclusive of coordinating operational activities amongst the team, coalition of active employee payroll and settlement input, paying the Role of maker checker, handling employee and stakeholder escalations, participating in User Acceptance System Testing, training, and documenting standard operating procedures and control documents.
  • Supervise entry to mid-level roles in transactional or tactical high complexity tasks to ensure timely completion, quality and compliance of payroll information and data.
  • Help define enterprise-wide standards for practices of financial controls related to payroll activities and compliance; assist team in career development and assigning stretch goals.
  • Working with finance for Salary payable and Salary receivable GL reconciliation.
  • Negative settlement writes off process for dues do not record.
  • Preparing monthly MIS relating to Gratuity paid and delay cases, Outstanding payments, negative settlement cases, Hold payments, death case settlements and their respective compliance.
  • Validation of payroll input and output including various payroll related compliance.
  • Preparing various enterprise wise dashboard etc. for employment management and turnaround time for timely and critical payments.
  • Supervise and guide others to perform high complexity payroll analysis; guide others on the technical aspects on Workday payroll processing’s and ensure that configuration implementations are tested and approved
