Job Description

Leading the future in luxury electric and mobility
At Lucid, we set out to introduce the most captivating, luxury electric vehicles that elevate the human experience and transcend the perceived limitations of space, performance, and intelligence. Vehicles that are intuitive, liberating, and designed for the future of mobility.

We plan to lead in this new era of luxury electric by returning to the fundamentals of great design – where every decision we make is in service of the individual and environment. Because when you are no longer bound by convention, you are free to define your own experience.

Come work alongside some of the most accomplished minds in the industry. Beyond providing competitive salaries, we’re providing a community for innovators who want to make an immediate and significant impact. If you are driven to create a better, more sustainable future, then this is the right place for you.

Team Description:

The Battery Cell Performance Optimization team drives the understanding and advancement of Lucid’s cell technology through testing, modeling, validation, design, and analytical characterization. We develop fast-charge and power-capability control strategies informed by real-world data from Lucid’s expanding vehicle fleet to ensure that customer usage is accurately represented. Our work bridges experimental testing with physics-based modeling to uncover the fundamental mechanisms governing cell performance and degradation.

As an intern on this team, you will contribute to integrating real-time electrochemical and data-driven models into cell testing workflows — enabling live visibility into cell health and performance. Your work will directly influence how we validate and optimize next-generation battery systems for efficiency, longevity, and charging speed.

Role/Responsibilities:

As a summer intern on the Battery Cell Engineering team, you’ll work on the following:

Key Deliverables

  • Support development and validation of battery performance and health‑estimation models.
  • Build and test simulation environments used to evaluate battery control strategies.
  • Implement models into real‑time testing workflows.
  • Analyze differences between predicted and measured cell behavior to improve model accuracy.

Deliverable Details

  • Integrate battery models and controls into a simulation framework for testing and verification.
  • Prepare these models for use in real‑time or automated testing environments.
  • Learn how battery state estimation works within a vehicle‑level or system‑level context.
  • Validate models through structured tests on lithium‑ion cells.
  • Gain hands‑on experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) and develop test protocols that incorporate real‑time
