Safety Technician

What this Job Entails: 

The EHS Specialist I will be responsible for health and safety compliance with applicable regulations and existing company standards and contributing to an environment where employee health and safety is preserved. You will have the responsibility to ensure site-specific Health & Safety plans are followed. 

Scope: 

• Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues
• Works on problems of limited scope
• Receives detailed instructions

Your Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist in executing the programs, procedures, processes and systems to ensure regional and site-level compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) law and company EHS strategies, policies or standards.
• Perform EHS compliance reviews and EHS risk assessments and ensure regulatory compliance and protection of employees, communities and the environment.
• Assist in site visits and inspections to identify EHS management gaps, develop corrective measures and implement solutions to sustain compliance with EHS law and company EHS strategies, policies or standards.
• Collect, measure and conduct basic analysis of regional and site EHS metrics and KPIs to discover trends for continuous improvement or corrective measures.
• Execute site-level and regional employee safety and injury prevention programs.
• Track and stay current on EHS compliance changes, emerging issues, and best practice trends in the industry and interpret and incorporate changes/updates to EHS programs.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 0 to 2 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience 
• Builds stable working relationships internally
• Follows standard practice and procedures when analyzing situations or data
• Knowledge of environmental health and safety or a closely related field
• Knowledge of applied site and regional EHS compliance management.
• Superior written and oral communication skills, including presentation/training skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple and technically assignments concurrently.
• Organised, analytical, detail-oriented, problem-solver, project management skills and strong focus on results.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the region

Physical Demand & Work Environment:

• Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
• Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
• Must be able to use a computer
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively 
• Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
