Job Description

Job Description Summary

GE HealthCare is a leading global medical technology and digital solutions innovator. Our mission is to improve lives in the moments that matter.

We are now looking for an Electronics Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team in Uppsala, developing PET cyclotron and radiochemistry systems.

In this role, you will work with complex, high-precision electronic systems with demanding requirements on robustness, reliability, and long operational lifetime. The role combines hands-on PCB design and product lifecycle ownership with contributions across a broader electronics domain, including control systems and power supply design.

You will work across the full product lifecycle—from new development to redesign driven by component changes in our global installed base. You will collaborate closely with experienced senior engineers, receiving guidance in complex areas while taking ownership of your own design work.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary Hardware Engineering team of approximately 20 engineers, working closely across electronics, mechanical, and embedded software disciplines.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • PCB Design (Core Responsibility)
Design, develop, and maintain schematics and PCB layouts using Cadence Allegro / OrCAD (or equivalent). Ensure high design quality, manufacturability, and robustness.

  • System-Level Electronics Contribution
Contribute to the design and improvement of electronic subsystems, including control systems and power supply solutions, ensuring proper integration and system performance.

  • Product Lifecycle Ownership
Drive redesign activities related to component changes and obsolescence. Make design decisions that support long product lifetimes (20+ years).

  • Testing & Verification
Plan and execute testing of electronic designs and subsystems. Analyze results and drive improvements.

  • Design Reviews & Quality Assurance
Perform and contribute to design reviews, ensuring compliance with design rules, EMC considerations, and internal standards.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with mechanical, software, sourcing, and manufacturing teams, as well as external suppliers.

Required Qualifications

  • Several years of experience in electronics design and PCB development

  • Strong hands-on experience with schematic design and PCB layout (Allegro / OrCAD or equivalent)

  • Experience working with a range of electronic systems (e.g. control electronics, power-related designs, or similar)

  • Experience across the full development lifecycle (design → test → production)

  • Experience with component selection and lifecycle/obsolescence management

  • Ability to independently drive tasks and take ownership of design work

  • Professional working proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience from complex or high-reliability systems (e.g. medical, industrial)

  • Knowledge of EMC design and testing

  • Basic programming or scripting skills (e.g. Python, C/C++)

  • Experience in RF and/or power electronics (considered a plus)

  • Swedish language skills

Who You Are

  • A structured and hands-on engineer who takes ownership of both design and long-term product quality

  • Comfortable working across different parts of the electronics domain, from detailed PCB work to system-level considerations

  • Pragmatic and solution-oriented, with attention to detail

  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with others

Additional Information

  • Location: Uppsala, Sweden

  • Hybrid work arrangement may be available based on company policy
