Job Overview

Pulse are now recruiting an experienced and motivated Senior Pharmacy Technician to support Clinical Trials services at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) — one of the UK’s largest, most innovative NHS organisations.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, research‑driven pharmacy team delivering safe, compliant, and efficient technical services across a wide portfolio of clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Pharmacy Technician (Clinical Trials), you will:

  • Support the day‑to‑day running of the Clinical Trials Pharmacy service
  • Work alongside Senior Clinical Trials Technicians to ensure safe and compliant handling of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs)
  • Assist in developing trial processes aligned with Trust strategies and study requirements
  • Ensure all trial activity follows legislation, GCP, and local governance procedures
  • Coordinate staffing within the trials area and contribute to workforce planning
  • Promote strong teamworking across the Clinical Trials Pharmacy team
  • Support training, competency assessments, and development of technical staff
  • Maintain safe systems of work including COSHH, infection control, and statutory standards

Location

Oxford Road Campus – Manchester Royal Infirmary (MFT)

Working Hours

37.5 hours per week
Full‑time, Monday–Friday (on‑site)

Qualifications & Experience Required

Essential:

  • BTEC/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Pharmaceutical Science
  • GPhC‑registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Accuracy Checking Technician qualification (ACT Level 4)
  • Strong communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable (Not Essential):

  • Clinical Trials Pharmacy experience – full training will be provided

Aseptic experience alone will NOT be accepted as a substitute for the technical and regulatory requirements of clinical trials.
